I grew up with two list making parents - every Saturday morning my mother had a list on the kitchen counter for each of us 5 kids of our chores for the day! We also had a dish schedule on the fridge - and my father laminated his lists for fishing and opening/closing our second home in Baja (propane, demand pump - things we don’t deal with in the US). I use my Notes on my IPhone and update it during and after trips. My husband and I camp a lot - and you can’t forget things if the nearest store is 90 miles away over a dirt/4 wheel drive road. I have separate lists for camping and our home in Baja - my husband makes fun of me - but is always glad when we go through the list before a trip. I keep a bag full of my electronic stuff ready to go at all times - along with Passport, Global Entry pass, Mexican visa, fishing license, dog’s vet records, insurance, etc, so it’s always in the same place. Then my husband is the one who brings a tow chain in case our truck breaks down in the desert … and cash! Since we travel in Baja, we hide our cash in various places in car/clothes - and I even have to make a list of where my cash is! I forgot once and found $500 a year later in a pillowcase. All my siblings are excellent list-makers … the gift that keeps on giving.

To help simply packing, my travel chargers are stored in a clear pouch, as are most of my travel toiletries. I try to replace empties after every trip, so packing can be done quickly.

I’ve always been a bit of a list maker. I have a list for groceries (organized by aisle) that I created in Excel, and all I have to do is tic off the boxes. I also have lists for packing. And always have to a do list, organized by categories.
