The best foundation for women over 50, in my opinion, is What The Foundation. As we age, our skin often becomes drier, and if you’re like me, you probably prefer to avoid heavy, cakey makeup. What The Foundation is super smooth, evens out redness, and is easy to apply. It enhances your skin’s natural appearance without feeling heavy.
You can apply it with a brush or your fingers—whatever works best for you. This product is a perfect combination of moisturizer and foundation. It blends perfectly into the skin, so there’s no need to put it onto your neck. You can focus a bit more on trouble areas, like around your nose, to cover any redness. Remember- a little goes a long way.
WTF gives luminosity and works well with other products. You can pair it with powder, Miracle Balm, or blush, but the first step is always getting your foundation just right.
Choosing The Right Shade
There are 16 shades of WTF. The first step in choosing the right WTF shade is knowing your face pencil shade. If you don’t know your color, don’t panic. I made a quiz that makes it super simple to find your match. You can take it here.
Once you find your pencil shade, you can coordinate your WTF shade based on the chart. For me, I wear medium. My face pencils are 12 and 15, but I use 10 under my eyes.

If you’re close by a Jones Road store, my best suggestion is having one of our artists shade match you. To make the best choice, take your finger and blend the WTF into your skin. If it disappears, it’s your shade.
How To Use What The Foundation
Use a pea-sized amount of WTF, dotting it on your cheeks, forehead, and chin. Blend it in using your fingers or a brush. Finish by using face pencils to address any trouble areas.
Skin Types and What the Foundation
Whether your skin is oily, dry, normal, or combination, you can wear What The Foundation.
For dry skin, apply What The Foundation first. If you feel you need extra hydration, you can spot-treat with your favorite moisturizer or Miracle Balm where needed.
For oily skin, finish your makeup routine with tinted face powder or powdered bronzer to control shine.
If you have combination or normal skin, you can do a bit of both. Use a little moisturizer or Miracle Balm if necessary, and follow up with tinted face powder to reduce shine and set your makeup.
As a bonus, here’s Jones Road’s makeup pro and my personal artist Cheyenne telling you everything you need to know about WTF.
I've always preferred tinted moisturizers over full coverage foundation for a more sheer and natural looking coverage. But found something lacking (moisturizing benefit, coverage factor for redness around nose, etc). You've nailed it and hit it out of the park with WTF, Bobbi! Thank you! WTF is all I use now. And correct redness with the face pencils. My skin feels great in the dead of January Wisconsin winters. 😊
It's really the best foundation I've ever used. I love the way I look, and my skin absolutely loves it!
