Charlotte Alter is the author of 'The Ones We've Been Waiting For: How a New Generation of Leaders Will Transform America.' She is a senior correspondent at Time magazine and the host of the 'Person of the Week' podcast, all while awaiting the birth of her second baby, whom she recently welcomed into the world.
She's worked with some major names in the world, so I was really honored to be one of them. Her work has also appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and Fox. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two kids.
I’ve been interviewed many times for podcasts and news articles, but this one was particularly special. I've known Charlotte since she was a little kid. Charlotte, the daughter of Jonathan and Emily Alter, grew up in Montclair, New Jersey, alongside my kids and within our friend group.
Jonathan is a well-known author and for years was a central voice at Newsweek magazine. Emily has been a TV producer; she worked for many years with Stephen Colbert and is now working with CBS News, in addition to taking on babysitting duties, which I know is not just a duty but a labor of love.
Charlotte was always a good kid. To put it mildly, the three siblings were exceptionally smart; I guess you could call them kid geniuses. I was amazed that her little brother Tommy, who was only two years old at the time, knew the names of every president. I can only imagine what Charlotte and her sister Molly could recite.
Charlotte is on top of her game as a journalist, and it looks like she is acing the whole motherhood thing as well. It seems like her backyard bat mitzvah and wedding were just yesterday. She is a woman to watch and know.
It’s so cool to watch the kids of my friends have these glorious careers. I am so proud of you, Charlotte, and happy to know you. Here is my interview with Charlotte on the podcast 'Person of the Week,' truly one of my favorites.
