I never thought I had a style until someone told me I do. I always thought I was a bit messy—sometimes even shleppy. But now, I take comfort and pride in showing up as myself.
I definitely lean toward a more boyish style—classic and slim tailoring. (I tend to search "boys' style" on Pinterest.) I keep my closet filled with pieces I can grab and go, depending on my mood, my body, and what actually flatters my small frame.
You could say I do wardrobe dressing most days, and I always start with one of two T-shirts:
I wear my new favorite jeans, which are Oliver Logan 24 Petite (thank you, Instagram)
But I also want to share styles I wear for TV, events, and weddings.
Jackets
I have a few classic Chanel jackets that always work. I got my style inspiration from watching Julianne Moore on The Today Show once—she wore a green, collarless Chanel jacket over a green V-neck tee that looked like the J.Crew one I own. She paired it with jeans and a nice pair of heels, and I borrowed her style. I also buy similar styles from Nili Lotan, Celine, and Saint Laurent.

Dresses
For weddings, I have three slip dresses from Nili Lotan—one navy, one black, and one in a new tan color. These are great because they can be rolled up in plastic and won’t wrinkle when I travel.
Here’s the beautiful dress I wore to my son’s and daughter-in-law’s wedding. One of the nights, we dressed in Indian clothes for the ceremony and then changed into a navy slip dress for dinner and dancing.
Cardigans
The quest continues for great cropped cardigans to wear open over these dresses. I have a few from Oscar de la Renta, with cut-out flowers in navy and white, that I wore to my kids’ weddings. They don’t make them anymore, unfortunately.

Skirts
I also have a few silk skirts from Vince, Aritzia, and a rhinestone one from Tibi that I love. I wear them casually with either a white men's shirt tied at the waist (okay, technically a boys’ shirt from J.Crew Kids, size L) or with big, comfy sweaters.
Sweaters
Lately, I’ve been loving the oversized cotton sweaters from Everlane—but not too oversized. I bought them in four colors for spring.
I also wear men's XX-small Uniqlo wool sweaters in every color they make. When they’re new, they’re indistinguishable from classic Prada sweaters—and at a great price point. I prefer the crewneck, but they also make a V-neck.
Stay tuned next season for my wardrobe updates.
Thank you for sharing about the jeans! I’m petite and it is always a struggle.
Love the idea with starting with go to items and outfits being buildable! Love this read. All these are beautiful! 🫶
