Finalizing a cover for my memoir was quite the process—as you can imagine. It took a few months, lots of printed-out covers taped to the wall, and so many opinions. Finally, after a few weeks of trying covers, my team came to my house and we went in the kitchen— within two hours, we had a few great options. Couldn’t of done it without them.
Photos by Ben Ritter, makeup by Cheyenne, hair by Christian.
This shot was actually my favorite. I kept coming back to it, kept asking about it. Without permission—and while on a Zoom with my editor and publisher—I posted it, middle finger and all. I only realized afterward that it was April Fools. Truthfully, I love this photo. My face, my eyes—they look so happy. But I knew it might be controversial, so I didn’t push for it.
So we went with the next best photo, which I truly love too. Meet the cover of Still Bobbi.
I did insist on keeping the Lingua Franca sweater that I love. Shoutout to Warby Parker—these glasses are discontinued, but I love the style. They're part of the narrow collection. (Please bring them back and call them Still Bobbi!)
I did love this photo, but the book team was adamant: feet don’t work on a cover. Fair enough. So, we tried cropping it, alot, but that didn’t work either.
I did love this shot with the full length, but again, they didn’t like the feet… or the crotch.
Next we went into my BB portraits archive and tried all of these.
And then, all of these…
Here’s some BTS from the shoot.
So, there it is. The journey of picking a cover. Don’t forget to preorder Still Bobbi. Hope you love it.
Can't wait till until your book comes out! I think my favorite of the "archives" was the one of you sitting cross legged on the floor, all in black.
Thank you so much for sharing !
I'm obsessed with your footwear so liked those shots and the one with the fly-away hair! They all look great though!
