When I started Jones Road Beauty, I knew it was about more than just makeup. It was about confidence, individuality, and embracing who you are at every stage of life. I’ve always been into individuality. Growing up, if you didn’t look like Barbie or Cheryl Tiegs, people didn’t see you as beautiful.
Middle school was rough—I struggled with confidence like most kids. Then I saw Love Story with Ali MacGraw, and everything shifted. She had long, dark hair parted in the middle, thick brows, a few freckles, and barely wore makeup—just like me. For the first time, I saw someone who looked like me being seen as beautiful, and it was a total game-changer.
Fast forward many years and one attitude adjustment later, I realized something bigger. That’s when “I Am Me” was born. Jones Road hosted the first Women of Influence conference during Women’s History Month in 2023. We invited 31 powerful women to my hotel and event studio, and we talked about the struggles in the journey of self-empowerment. It was so great and the beginning of something special.
During Jones Road’s three year anniversary, we launched an ‘I Am Me” collab with Lingua Franca- with sweatshirts that had our message on it. People loved it.
Then, almost a year ago, Jones Road launched the ‘I Am Me’ campaign, which is one of my favorites. ‘I Am Me’ is a constant reminder to myself and for others to own who you are and be proud of it. It’s about being comfortable in your skin and loving what makes you special and unique. Embrace every freckle, every fine line, and every scar… wear it all proudly and know that it makes you, you.
In light of this year’s Women’s History Month, I’m excited to share the launch of the I Am Me series, in partnership with JP Morgan. It’s 10 episodes that will be on the Jones Road Youtube channel for anyone to watch. The episodes bring together some of the most inspiring women I know for real, unfiltered conversations about beauty, success, challenges, and self-confidence.
The first episode features none other than Gloria Steinem- an icon and someone I deeply admire. Gloria is an inspiration to not only me, but many people, and a powerful leader. How could we not start a women’s empowerment series with the queen of women empowerment, herself? She dedicated her life to standing up for all women, and now I get the chance to share her story.
I’m so excited to share my conversations with so many icons like Brooke Shields, Zarna Garg, Ally Love, Dr. Becky Kennedy, Carla Hassan, and more. Stay tuned… we are releasing an episode every Thursday for the next 10 weeks. I’ll be sharing here BTS footage and stories that didn’t make the cut.
Here is some BTS from the I Am Me episode, our first Women of Influence event, and being with Gloria:
I can't wait to watch the entire series! I loved to listen to your podcast when I was food styling and creating for EV_18. I still go back to those episodes! I just pre-ordered my audio book ❤️
I love this! I have brown hair (well, now I have gray hair 😆) and have always liked the more natural look. I admire natural beauties like you, Bobbi, and Brooke Shields and Cindy Crawford.
I hope that you are planning on going on a book tour. If so, please come to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. 😊
