Q: WHAT DID YOU EAT FOR BREAKFAST?

A: An egg white omelet and two cups of dark roast Starbucks coffee with a dash of half and half and one raw brown sugar.

Q: WHAT INFLUENCE DID NEW YORK YANKEES LEGEND, JOE DiMAGGIO, HAVE ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NON-SURGICAL FOOT AND ANKLE CENTER AT HOSPITAL FOR SPECIAL SURGERY?

A: I was fortunate enough to treat the late Yankee legend for his world-famous sports medicine injury caused by a botched heel spur surgery. After successfully treating him, we developed a relationship, and he was very grateful. He believed that not enough doctors took full advantage of non-surgical treatments, especially for the foot and ankle. After many conversations, he suggested I start a center dedicated to non-surgical treatment of foot and ankle disorders at the country’s leading orthopedic hospital, the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). He graciously allowed me to use his name for our center, which was the first of its kind to dedicate its entire specialty to non-surgical musculoskeletal care. DiMaggio’s heel spur is considered the most famous sports medicine injury in the country and was part of the central theme of Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea.

Q: DID YOU REALLY TREAT JACKIE KENNEDY?
