In my senior year of college, I was laser-focused on finding an internship that would help me figure out what I wanted to do after graduation. I’ve always been fascinated by the beauty industry, but I never really knew which part of it I wanted to pursue. Then I came across an opening at Jones Road Beauty (JRB), and something clicked. It felt like a dream—my 16-year-old self would’ve been screaming! I applied immediately, and after nailing the interview, I landed the internship. Just like that, I had my foot in the door of an industry I’d been dreaming about for years.
From day one, I knew this was going to be an incredible experience. My internship wasn’t just about fetching coffee or sitting in meetings—I was thrown into the deep end and got to experience so many different aspects of the beauty world. Marketing? Check. Operations? Check. Product development, photo shoots, retail? You name it, I probably did it! It was a whirlwind, but I loved every second of it. The hands-on experience made me realize how much I genuinely enjoyed being part of this industry.
After I graduated, I was thrilled to extend my internship through the summer. It was the perfect opportunity to keep proving myself and show how dedicated I was to JRB. Then, when a position in Operations opened up, I jumped at the chance. I applied, interviewed, and when I got the job, it felt like all my hard work had paid off.
Fast forward almost three years, and here I am: Associate Manager of Supply Chain at JRB. Looking back, it’s crazy to think about how much I’ve grown since that first day as an intern. From tackling logistical puzzles to working with amazing teams across the company, every step of this journey has been so rewarding
Since being full-time, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to assist in opening four retail stores, speak at a college about supply chain in the cosmetics industry, and build great connections and friendships with my coworkers. These experiences have made my role even more fulfilling and have allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
One of the most exciting aspects of my career has been the opportunity to grow within the supply chain industry. Supply chain is a dynamic field that constantly challenges you to think critically, adapt to new trends, and find innovative solutions. It’s an industry with endless possibilities for learning and advancement, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you should never stop being curious and open to learning. Internships are such a great way to figure out what you’re passionate about, and if you work hard, they can lead to something amazing. For me, it turned a lifelong dream into a career I’m truly proud of.
Advice for Turning an Internship into a Full-Time Role
Build Relationships with Colleagues
Take the time to connect with your coworkers and supervisors. Building strong relationships can make a big difference in how you’re perceived and the opportunities you’re offered. Don’t just focus on the work—get to know people, ask about their experiences, and show genuine interest in their roles.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions
No one expects you to know everything as an intern. Asking questions shows that you’re eager to learn and invested in doing your best. Whether it’s about a specific task or the bigger picture, don’t hesitate to speak up. Curiosity can open doors you didn’t even know existed.
Always Offer a Helping Hand
Be proactive and look for ways to contribute beyond your assigned tasks. If you see someone struggling or a project that needs extra support, offer to help. This willingness to go above and beyond can leave a lasting impression and show that you’re a team player.
