Four Eyes Are Better Than Two
Glasses Are a Girl’s Best Friend
When I think about it, my glasses are part of my “uniform.” You’ll almost never see me without them.
It all started in high school, after I saw Sissy Spacek wear a pair on Saturday Night Live. I ran out to get my own. They were round, wire-thin frames that made me feel like the coolest person alive.
Over the years, glasses stopped being just a something I needed to see, but more of a signature. They’re as much a part of my look as anything else.
And I love when the icons lean into glasses. Jennifer Aniston. Lorraine Bracco. Michelle Pfeiffer. And of course, Tina Fey, who I truly thank for making glasses funny, smart, and cool all at once.
Honestly, I never planned for glasses to be an everyday thing, but I needed them to see. It wasn’t just for reading either. At 40, I had astigmatism, which explained why everything seemed fuzzy. The second I put glasses on, the world looked sharper and clearer.
I tried contacts, but between my deep-set eyes and the extra step of popping them in, they just weren’t for me. Glasses were my thing.
Over the years, glasses have become part of my style identity. I will admit, I’m pretty particular about them. My style choice depends on my mood. I have three or four pairs I rotate daily, depending on what look I’m going for.
