To me, Kerry Diamond is more than just a nice girl from Staten Island. She's the “Bombe”—literally. I first met Kerry when she was the beauty editor at Harper's Bazaar magazine. She was well-respected and held in the highest regard as a very important beauty journalist. Always curious and upbeat, she made even the most mundane makeup launch sound fabulous.
She is now the founder and editor-in-chief of Cherry Bombe, which boasts a stunning print magazine, the number one podcast in the US about women and food, and "Dishing on Julia," the HBO Max podcast for its series on Julia Child.
Kerry was the editor-in-chief of Yahoo Food when I was there as the editor-in-chief of Yahoo Beauty. She has worked at WWD, L'Oréal, and Coach. She previously owned the Brooklyn coffee shop Smith Canteen, known for its green initiative and community approach. She has brought together food and culture, sharing the most incredible stories and creating platforms that highlight both known and unknown female chefs.
In addition to a magazine and a podcast, you can now experience everything in real-time and in person at the Cherry Bombe Jubilee conference. As with everything Kerry does, it started small and indie and has scaled to a full-blown, can't-miss event on both coasts.
I did a Q&A at one of the early conferences, which was my first time speaking on food and lifestyle—a subject I continue to focus on. I brought my daughter-in-law as my guest, and we got to meet so many fabulous women, including Ina Garten.
I was also on the Cherry Bombe podcast, which was recorded in Brooklyn at Roberta's, where I got to eat their pizza, rated as the best in Brooklyn. I can confirm it was delicious.
I was thinking about what Kerry has done to raise awareness and spotlight all these incredible women in the food industry. It reminds me a bit of my friend Don Garber, the commissioner of Major League Soccer, who put soccer in the United States on the map.
I'm really proud of Kerry. She is definitely someone to watch. I'm not sure what she's going to do next, but I think it might be time for a Cherry Bombe line of food, because I would certainly buy it.

Love Kerry, she is the reason we are connected! There was a lipstick from your former brand in the Jubilee gift bag (many years ago). Some friends texted me about the Jones Road display this year🙌🏼
What wonderful words you have for her! It’s so nice to see women supporting other women. I will keep a look out for what she does next, just as I have with you. While I’m here, I want to tell you that when I was about 17 or 18 I bought some of your makeup, and a set of your makeup brushes. I remember distinctly arriving at the counter and being horrified by how expensive they were, because I hadn’t dared asked up front. This was Geneva, Switzerland in the late 70s, maybe early 80s, I don’t remember exactly. But I do remember the eyeshadow, and how the girl at the counter showed me how to use them. But, guess what?! I still have the brushes! Yep! I’m now 62, and they are still perfect! Their wooden handles are intact, the bristles completely intact, and they are still my favorites! So there you go. I guess they were a pretty good investment! I thought you’d like to know this. Take care, xx Francesca
