Some of my favorite art pieces hanging in my house were actually bought from Instagram. I'm drawn to color, words, and things that make me happy. My husband and I don't always share my taste in art. Sometimes we agree, but not always.
I honestly can't tell the difference between an emerging artist that my friends rave about for showing in big museums and galleries, and an artist who just posts on Instagram that i’m attracted to. For me, it's about what I like, not always about the price.
I'm obsessed with an artist named David Pher. He lives in Germany and releases prints only occasionally, of which I have a few. I loved them so much that I decided to take a leap of faith and bought a very large original painting, which I hung in my house. It brings me immense joy every time I walk by. I would continue buying his work, but I'm running out of wall space.
I once received a Kokeshi doll that my team had made years ago. The artist, Lucie Kaas, is well-known for her incredible versions of these dolls, inspired by cool, interesting, and famous people such as Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I believe she just released one of Karl Lagerfeld. I have purchased my mini collection from her Instagram.
I bought four of these freehand drawings on Instagram by an artist named C.S. McIntire. They are hung together in one of my guest rooms, and they’re really cool. Again, I just love his work.
I met Magda Archer on Instagram years ago and then in person in the UK. She has gifted me some of my favorite art, and I have also bought pieces from her on Instagram. Her work is displayed together in our green room at 18 Label. She’s funny, talented, and couldn't be nicer.
Here are some other pieces I absolutely love. Stay tuned for part 2 and 3 on more of my home/office art buys. They are great.
Louis Vuitton Poster of Mark Rothko Exposition
David Parise/ Vintage Barbie and Ken
Seriously, I gave up barbies a long time ago, but the photographs are way cool. We hung up a few in our Palm Beach store and one is on its way to Greenwich Village. David is the best, and these are so adorable.
Yellowpop x Jean-Michel Basquiat
I’m a huge Basquiat guy. I love it all. I hung the framed poster of his exhibition in my Florida office of his and Andy Warhol’s collaboration. I really liked this neon sign for our green room in 18 Label Studios.
I bought this on a whim. I loved the colors and thought it would be cool and aspirational in the product development office at Jones Road.
Thanks for sharing! I love them all! My son is an artist in LA. Check him out delotto_land on Instagram
The Sarah Martinez piece is exquisite...
